  • Charles Houston Bar Association

    Orrick received the 2007 Crystal Award from the Charles Houston Bar Association (CHBA) at its 52nd Annual Gala Dinner and Dance. The award recognizes a corporation or law firm that has supported the CHBA in its mission to address the unique challenges facing the African-American community and to promote diversity in the legal profession.

  • Human Rights Campaign

    Orrick received a 100 percent rating in the 2009 Human Rights Campaign's Corporate Equality Index, a report card on gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender equality in corporate America. This is the third consecutive year Orrick has received a perfect rating.

  • Minority Corporate Counsel Association

    Orrick was recipient of the Minority Corporate Counsel Association's 2008 Thomas L. Sager Award, Western Region. The award recognizes law firms that have demonstrated a sustained commitment to improve the hiring, retention, and promotion of diverse attorneys.

  • Minority Law Journal

    Demonstrating Orrick's ongoing commitment to diversity through promoting and retaining minority lawyers, Orrick is ranked seventh in the "highest percentage of minority attorneys (partners/nonpartners)" and 12th overall in The Minority Law Journal's 2009 Diversity Scorecard.

  • Morgan Stanley

    For the second consecutive year, Morgan Stanley named Orrick a top law firm of the year for diversity. Orrick was recognized at a reception hosted by Morgan Stanley in New York on March 4, 2009. Once again, Orrick stood out among other law firms for its commitment to nurturing and developing diversity internally and in the legal profession generally. The presenters recognized Orrick’s comprehensive and progressive diversity program, which covers the entire firm and all demographics and includes numerous programs and initiatives.

  • MultiCultural Law Magazine

    For the fourth consecutive year, Orrick was recognized by MultiCultural Law Magazine as one of the "Top 100 Law Firms for Diversity" for the firm's commitment to advancing diversity at Orrick and within the profession.

    Orrick is ranked sixth on the magazine's 2009 list.

  • National Law Journal

    The National Law Journal's annual survey of the 50 most diverse firms in Washington, D.C., ranks Orrick No. 32 in 2009.

  • North American South Asian Bar Association (NASABA)

    The North American South Asian Bar Association (NASABA) named Orrick as its 2007 Law Firm of the Year for Diversity.

  • Working Mother Magazine

    Orrick has been named one of 2009's "Best Law Firms for Women" by Working Mother magazine and Flex-Time Lawyers for the firm's attention to work/life balance and women's issues. This is the second year Orrick has been named to this prestigious list.

Pro Bono


  • American Bar Association

    Orrick received the 2008 National Public Service Award from the American Bar Association Section of Business Law for its pro bono microfinance work. Orrick was nominated by the Neighborhood Entrepreneur Law Project of the New York City Bar Justice Center, Global Partnership and KIVA Microfunds.

  • Appleseed

    Orrick was named Appleseed's "Sowing the Seeds of Justice" Pro Bono Champion of the Year in 2007 for the firm's leadership in promoting the public good.

  • California State Bar

    Orrick's Sacramento, San Francisco and Silicon Valley offices received the California State Bar's 2008 President's Pro Bono Service Award in the Large Law Firm category.

  • Catholic Legal Immigration Network, Inc.

    Orrick received the 2007 Pro Bono Award from the Catholic Legal Immigration Network, Inc. for the firm's outstanding pro bono work and advocacy on behalf of immigrants in appellate litigation.

  • Humane Society of the United States

    Orrick was one of four law firms recognized by the Humane Society of the United States for its pro bono service in aid of animals in 2007.

  • Legal Aid Society of New York

    Orrick was recognized by the Legal Aid Society of New York in 2007 for the firm's commitment to the Legal Aid Society and its clients.

  • National Legal Aid & Defender Assocation

    Orrick received the 2007 Beacon of Justice Award from the National Legal Aid & Defender Association for its commitment to pro bono services, especially on behalf of detainees at Guantanamo Bay.

  • New York City Family Court

    Orrick received the 2007 Pro Bono Service Award from the New York City Family Court. Orrick was recognized among six corporations and law firms that helped to initiate an innovative pro bono project in the New York City Family Court.

  • Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts

    Orrick received the 2007 Law Firm Award from Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts in recognition of the firm's role in mediation for low-income artists involved in litigation.

  • California State University's Sacramento College of Education

    Orrick received the 2007 Sacramento Business Partner of the Year Award for the firm's support of Oak Ridge Elementary School in Sacramento. The award was presented by California State University's Sacramento College of Education.

  • City of San Francisco

    San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom proclaimed June 10, 2008, as "Orrick Day" in recognition of the firm's commitment to the YMCA and the Bessie Carmichael Elementary School.

  • San Francisco Business Times

    The San Francisco Business Times' annual corporate philanthropy list ranks Orrick No. 31 for 2008.

  • San Francisco Opera Guild

    Orrick received the 2007 Star of Excellence Award for our support of the San Francisco Opera.

  • Silicon Valley/San Jose Business Journal

    Orrick was named among the Top Silicon Valley Corporate Philanthropists in 2008 by the Silicon Valley/San Jose Business Journal.
