In 2002, Orrick opened an office in Orange County to serve the unique local business community, and more than 20 Intellectual Property advocates and trial lawyers have quickly become an integral part of the region's innovation network. Our IP team sponsors strategic organizations that build innovation infrastructure in Southern California, such as OCTANe and Digital Hollywood. OCTANe helps to create, support and fund innovative biomedical and information technology companies in Southern California, and Digital Hollywood is one of the premier industry conferences with more than 15,000 executives in the film, television, music, home video, cable, telecommunications and computer industries regularly attending numerous regional events throughout the year.

Nearly all of our IP lawyers in Orange County are admitted before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and hold degrees in one or more scientific or engineering fields, with some holding Masters and Ph.D. degrees. Our Orange County office also provides clients with a White Collar Criminal Defense and Corporate Investigations practice led by a former Assistant United States Attorney who also served, for three years, as the Deputy Chief of the Southern Division of the Central District of California. With 10 years of fraud and public corruption prosecutions experience, he received a "Director's Award," one of the highest honors bestowed on federal prosecutors. Orrick’s White Collar Criminal Defense and Corporate Investigations group boasts many respected criminal defense lawyers, including 12 former Assistant United States Attorneys who are highly regarded among a global client base for their work on a broad range of complex white collar and regulatory matters, including antitrust, bank fraud, tax fraud, securities fraud, insider trading, corruption, racketeering and government contract fraud. The White Collar Criminal Defense and Corporate Investigations team leverages the resources of more than 300 litigators combined with dedicated legal assistants and staff in extensive discovery efforts, internal investigations and preparations for trial, and administrative and congressional hearings.
