Orrick congratulates our partners Mary Collins, Lynne Hermle and Annette Hurst on their selection to the Daily Journal’s 2015 Top Women Lawyers list. This annual feature profiles 75 litigators and 25 transactional lawyers known throughout the state of California for their accomplishments in the law.
Mary Collins is a member of Orrick’s Public Finance team in San Francisco. She has acted as bond counsel in numerous bond, certificates of participation and lease revenue bond financings and tax and revenue anticipation note financings for counties and other public entities. Mary has particular experience in financing sports facilities, most recently advising the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum Authority in the refunding of bonds used to finance the remodeling of the stadium, which is the current home of the Golden State Warriors. This recognition follows her selection to the Daily Journal's 2014 Top Development Lawyers list, which honored attorneys whose work in the development arena significantly impacted projects helping to transform California's cities.
Lynne Hermle, a member of Orrick’s Employment Law and Litigation team in Silicon Valley, has a long track record of defeating class certification, obtaining summary judgment and winning high-profile jury trials on behalf of industry-leading clients. As described by the Daily Journal, Lynne most recently “scored a decisive defense verdict in the most closely watched employment case in years,” representing storied venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers in a high-stakes gender discrimination suit. Following 24 days of trial, a San Francisco jury rejected all of former partner Ellen Pao's claims that she was passed over for promotion and terminated because of her gender and complaints about discrimination. Long a member of the firm’s senior leadership team, Lynne currently serves on Orrick’s Management Committee.
A member of Orrick’s Intellectual Property team in San Francisco, Annette Hurst is an experienced trial lawyer who has tried patent, copyright, trade secret, trademark and business tort claims. Most recently, she served as a key member of the Orrick team that obtained a favorable decision on behalf of client DISH Network in a lawsuit filed by Fox over DISH’s Hopper DVR technology. She also served as co-counsel and architect of the copyright strategy used to secure a landmark Supreme Court victory in Kirtsaeng v. John Wiley Publishing. Daily Journal recently recognized Annette as one of the Top 75 IP Litigators in California for the sixth time. Annette serves on Orrick’s Board and is Chair of the firm’s Practice Management Committee.
