Orrick today announced the launch of an office in Santa Monica to serve the exploding Silicon Beach tech market. This will be the firm’s third office in Southern California and continues the expansion of our global tech practice.
The 13-lawyer Santa Monica office will provide a local base to serve an emerging tech hub in Southern California, the nation’s fourth-largest venture capital market. The Santa Monica team will be led by partners Andrew Erskine and Daniel Kim, along with senior associate Josh Pollick. John Bautista, one of Orrick’s leading advisors to global tech companies, will spend significant time there along with partner Anik Guha, as will other Orrick tech companies partners.
“We are thrilled to be right in the center of this exciting and growing market, enabling us to better serve our local entrepreneur and investor clients and grow our practice,” John said. “The market is home to some of the most dynamic companies in the media, aerospace and software development spaces.”
“Santa Monica is a perfect fit and complement to our Southern California strategy, which is already focused on the tech and media sectors,” said William Molinski, leader of Orrick’s 70-lawyer Los Angeles office, who will also spend time in Santa Monica. “We’ve seen the accelerating tech growth in Silicon Beach, and we’re excited to be in the heart of it.”
In addition to venture capital work, Orrick’s new office will advise on intellectual property and litigation matters.
The launch of the Santa Monica office is the latest growth in Orrick’s global tech platform. Since 2015, the firm has added partners in the Bay Area, Los Angeles, Portland, Seattle, Washington, D.C., Houston, London, Paris and Milan. Last month, Orrick added two leading tech-focused partners in Silicon Valley, Matteo Daste and Glynna Christian (who now co-heads Orrick’s Technology Transactions team), and earlier this year Ylan Steiner joined in London.
