Three Orrick Partners Named Among the Most Influential Women in Bay Area Business

​Orrick congratulates our partners Annette Hurst, Denise Mingrone and Amy Ross on their selection to the 2015 Most Influential Women in Bay Area Business list. Published by San Francisco Business Times, this annual list honors 150 women who are Bay Area leaders in business, government and nonprofits.

A member of Orrick’s Intellectual Property Group in San Francisco, Annette Hurst is an experienced trial lawyer who has tried patent, copyright, trade secret, trademark and business tort claims. Most recently, she served as a key member of the Orrick team that obtained a favorable decision on behalf of client DISH Network in a lawsuit filed by Fox over DISH’s Hopper DVR technology. She also served as co-counsel and architect of the copyright strategy used to secure a landmark Supreme Court victory in Kirtsaeng v. John Wiley Publishing. In addition to her busy practice, Annette serves on Orrick’s Board and leads the firm’s Practice Management Committee.

Denise Mingrone was recently named leader of Orrick’s global Intellectual Property Business Unit. Resident in the firm’s Silicon Valley office, where she previously served as office leader, she is a successful IP litigator with a string of notable victories on behalf of such clients ​as Synopsys, Inc., Applied Materials, Inc., Ruckus Wireless, Brocade Communications and MGA. Denise founded and chairs Orrick's "Successful Women in Intellectual Property" group, which is dedicated to providing open forums for women in this field to discuss practical and legal methods for success. She also serves on the firm's Professional Development Committee and its Talent Model Committee.

Amy Ross is the leader of Orrick’s San Francisco office and a member of the Securities Litigation, Investigations and Enforcement Group. Her practice focuses on the representation of public companies, directors and officers in securities class actions, SEC and DOJ investigations and enforcement actions, shareholder derivative actions and actions brought under federal and state securities laws. Amy has extensive experience in litigation involving compliance breaches of fiduciary duty and securities law violations and conducting various types of corporate investigations.
