With her strong relationship building abilities, Katie excels at bridging differing view points and constructing mutually beneficial solutions among all parties.

She partners with investment funds, fund sponsors, real estate advisors, developers, public and private pension funds and institutional lenders on sophisticated real property acquisitions and dispositions, secured financings, hospitality, construction and development, joint ventures and other corporate real estate activities.

With a particular passion for the hospitality sector, Katie manages nearly all of Orrick’s hotel transactions throughout the United States. She has in-depth knowledge of the legal and contractual aspects unique to the hotel industry, including construction contracts, hotel management and franchise agreements, in addition to more standard loan documentation, joint venture and purchase and sale agreements.

  • Katie recently represented:

    • A real estate investment firm on the $200 million mortgage, mezzanine and preferred equity construction financing of two mixed-use developments in Las Vegas, Nevada.
    • A real estate investment firm on the $170 million mortgage financing of a mixed-use development project in Las Vegas, Nevada.
    • A global opportunity fund on the $130 million sale of the Four Seasons Hotel Miami.
    • A private equity investment firm on its preferred equity investment in the Algonquin Hotel, a historic boutique hotel in Manhattan.
    • An institutional lender on the $40 million refinancing of an existing loan secured by a multi-building luxury hotel and mixed-use property in Boston’s historic Battery Wharf.
    • A global opportunity fund on multiple financings and refinancings of the Ritz-Carlton Washington, D.C., and the Ritz-Carlton Central Park, for an aggregate amount of $548 million.
    • A global opportunity fund on the $206 million sale of the W Union Square in Manhattan to Marriott. We previously advised on the $168 million acquisition of this hotel.
    • A global opportunity fund on the $126.6 million acquisition of the Loews Regency San Francisco hotel from an affiliate of Loews Hotels, Inc. and the $70 million financing from HSBC.
    • A global opportunity fund on the $62 million acquisition and $45 million financing of the Hilton Seattle.
    • A global opportunity fund on the $150 million sale of the Wagner at the Battery hotel in Manhattan.
    • A global opportunity fund on the $120 million acquisition and $82 million related financing of the Holiday Inn Fisherman's Wharf, a 342-key hotel in San Francisco.
    • Westbrook Partners on the highly anticipated $1+ billion mixed-use development project that will feature a luxury condominium tower which will be branded Four Seasons Private Residences at 706 Mission in San Francisco.
    • A core real estate fund on the $270 million acquisition, financing and ground lease of a creative office in Seattle.
