Webinar | October.02.2020 | 9:00am - 10:15am (Tokyo Standard Time)
Webinar - Recording Available日本語:ベンチャー投資に関するクロスボーダーの投資規制(米国CFIUS/日本外為法)について
As the coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to spread across the globe, first and foremost, we do hope you, your family and your community stay safe and healthy. We would like to take a moment to let you know that we are here and ready to respond to this unprecedent public health and economic crisis and to support your needs during this challenging time.
With a global increase in restrictions related to foreign investment, the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) has released final regulations fully implementing the 2018 Foreign Investment Risk Review Modernization Act (FIRRMA). In Japan, the amendments to the Foreign Exchange and Foreign Trade Act (FEFTA) and other relevant rules and regulations have also been fully implemented in June 2020, strongly influencing inward direct investment. For those considering investment in US and Japanese companies, understanding these regulatory changes will be crucial in their plans.
In this webinar, our Washington, D.C. partner Harry Clark and Tokyo managing associate Sakon Kuramoto will discuss FIRRMA and FEFTA related issues that may be encountered by investors and VCs exploring investments in unlisted venture companies in the United States or Japan. This session will cover the following topics:
The webinar will follow an open discussion format between our presenters, with opportunities to ask questions. We encourage you to submit questions ahead of time so our presenters can conduct any necessary research prior to the event. We look forward to meeting with you (virtually)!
