FTC Signals Stricter Children’s Privacy Enforcement

Emily Tabatabai has contributed to a Cybersecurity Law Report article titled “FTC Signals Stricter Children’s Enforcement in NGL Labs Settlement: Key Violations and Settlement Terms”. The article discusses the FTC’s July 2024 settlement with NGL Labs, a California-based app developer, and two of its co‑founders highlighting what appears to be the first ban on offering an app to all users under the age of 18. The settlement showcases the FTC’s willingness to use the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act and other federal laws to protect teens as well as younger children.
