Discover how Italy emerged as a key country in the European VC ecosystem in 2024. Despite a slowdown in other countries, Italy saw increased investment and a new generation of entrepreneurs, Livia Maria Pedroni shares.
Livia: As you will see in our fifth edition of the Deal Flow report, Italy has been one of the leading countries in the European VC ecosystem. Unlike other European countries where a VC slowdown was registered, in Italy, 2024 was a great year in terms of investment amount, which grew compared to 2023.
First of all, investors grew their confidence in the high innovation potential of the Italian ecosystem, which grew stronger.
And in addition to that, in Italy, there is the emergence of this new generation of serial entrepreneurs, which are founders which made very successful startups, which made great exits and now are creating new ventures.
Lastly, we have also new regulations, which were recently adopted in Italy, introducing incentives both for individual and institutional investors, starting from tax benefits, which had a very strong impact, making it one of the most competitive European countries.
