Marc Levinson Named President of American College of Bankruptcy

​Marc A. Levinson, an Orrick restructuring lawyer resident in the firm's Sacramento office, was elected to serve as President of the American College of Bankruptcy at its annual meeting on March 19 in Washington, D.C. The College, formed in 1989, is an honorary association of approximately 800 U.S. and international bankruptcy and insolvency professionals. Nominees of the College are invited to join based on a proven record of the highest standards of professionalism and service to the profession and community.

Mr. Levinson is nationally recognized for his expertise in complex corporate reorganizations and restructurings, out-of-court workouts and other insolvency matters. He also has represented California cities in connection with their financial difficulties both inside and outside of bankruptcy, including serving as chief bankruptcy counsel to the City of Vallejo and to the City of Stockton in their chapter 9 cases – each of which resulted in a confirmed plan of adjustment.

Mr. Levinson was inducted as a Fellow in the College in 1998, and has previously served as a Member of the Board of Directors, as its Secretary, as Ninth Circuit Regent and, most recently, as Chair of the Board of Regents. In addition to his work with the American College of Bankruptcy, he also is a Conferee of the National Bankruptcy Conference, and has served on its Executive Committee.
