Orrick Advises Bayer on Joint Investment with Temasek in New Company Unfold

Orrick has advised Leaps by Bayer, the impact investment arm of Bayer AG, on its joint investment with global investment company Temasek in the creation and launching of Unfold. Unfold will focus on vertical farming innovation in vegetable varieties, primarily through the development of new seed varieties.

Unfold raised $30 million in its initial funding round and entered into an agreement for certain rights to germplasm from Bayer. This investment aligns with Bayer’s vision of “Health for All, Hunger for None”, a commitment to the sustainable development goals the United Nations has set for 2030.

The Orrick team advising Bayer was led by Matthew Gemello and Ramy Shweiky, and included Max Hyatt, Thomas Joraanstad, Michael Wiesner, Glynna Christian and Matthew Rose.
