Congratulations to our team led by Clem Roberts, Bas de Blank, Alyssa Caridis and Jordan Coyle on being recognized as Litigators of the Week by American Lawyer for their win last week for Sonos in its patent infringement case against Google in the U.S. International Trade Commission. Orrick joined with Sean Sullivan of Lee, Sullivan, Shea and Smith LLP to lead the effort in the ITC, in close collaboration with Sonos’ in-house legal department.
In the feature, Bas credited the entire team. “We were successful because the different attorneys and firms worked so well together to help Sonos,” he told the publication. Echoing him, Clem noted, “The ITC is a particularly challenging forum, but, at the end of the day, we were able to prove that every single patent claim was valid and that Google had infringed Sonos’ key technology. And, we accomplished all of this in the midst of a pandemic. It is a tribute to everyone that helped us reach this result.”
The decision has attracted national media attention, including in the New York Times and Wall Street Journal.
