Orrick Recognized as Litigators of the Week for “Market Moving Reversal” for Credit Suisse

March.25.2022

Congratulations to an Orrick litigation and appellate team led by partners Rich Jacobsen, Paul Rugani and Danny Rubens on being recognized as Litigators of the Week by American Lawyer for securing a precedent-setting New York Court of Appeals decision in RMBS litigation for our client, Credit Suisse.

In this feature, the publication called the win a “market-moving reversal at New York’s highest court,” saying the decision “will shape how disputes over billions of dollars of pending RMBS claims play out.”

Rich, who argued the case, credited Credit Suisse’s in-house team, saying, “We simply could not have achieved this result without their strategic vision, steadfast support and confidence in the strength of our positions.”

The feature cited the collaboration of a large team of Orrick lawyers in achieving the result. “I’m privileged to lead a core team that has been defending Credit Suisse and other banks in RMBS cases for more than a decade,” Rich said. “This case shows the value of having diverse, interdisciplinary teams on big cases.”

In addition to Rich, Paul and Danny, the publication highlighted the contributions of associate Jennifer Keighley, as well as associates Nick Poli and Camille Rosca. The team also includes Barry Levin, John Ansbro, Dan Dunne, Jennifer Lee, Gregory Beaman and David Litterine-Kaufman.

This is the second time this year our teams have been recognized by American Lawyer as Litigators of the Week. In January, an IP litigation team led by Clem Roberts, Bas de Blank, Alyssa Caridis and Jordan Coyle earned the honor for a major win in the International Trade Commission for Sonos in a closely-watched patent infringement case against Google.
