The National Bar Association has named Orrick partner Francesca Morency to its “40 Under 40” list, the third year in a row an Orrick lawyer has received that honor. The list recognizes rising stars who exemplify high achievement in innovation, leadership, legal and community involvement.

A Distinguished Career

Francesca litigates complex business disputes, conducts internal investigations, and assists with regulatory and administrative challenges. She has served on teams that:

  • Secured three jury trial wins in 10 months for the NCAA, including the first case to go to a verdict involving liability claims related to concussions in college athletics.
  • Defended a Global Pharmaceutical Company in a False Claims Act case and a hospitality client in a high-stakes arbitration.
  • Secured a favorable settlement for DHL in a fuel price-fixing lawsuit.

A Drive to Succeed

Francesca grew up in Boston as the daughter of Haitian immigrants. “My parents worked extremely hard to make sure my brother and I had everything we needed,” Francesca said. “I have this drive to be the best I can be to pay homage to everything they sacrificed to get me here. I want to make them proud.”

An Impressive Legacy

Founded in 1925, the National Bar Association is the oldest and largest global network of predominantly Black American attorneys and judges, representing the interests of about 67,000 lawyers, judges, law professors and law students.

Francesca joins Orrick partner Kelly Newsome and Orrick alum Tiffany Wright on the rising star list.
