John focuses on advice to sponsors and financial institutions across a range of international project sectors, with a particular focus on finance and derivatives.

John has significant experience in cross-border finance transactions in the clean energy, logistics infrastructure and petrochemical industries. He has advised sponsors, borrowers, lenders, ECAs and hedge providers on a range of bilateral and syndicated facilities.

John's experience also includes in-house work for software providers in the insurance and finance technology sectors.

    • Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners and its subsidiary Elgin Energy, a leading international solar company with a portfolio of solar PV and battery storage development projects totalling 15GW+ across the UK, Australia and Ireland, in relation to a secured revolving credit facility provided to Elgin by Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria.
    • Sizewell C Nuclear Power Project, UK: advising the Nuclear Liabilities Financing Assurance Board, an independent body established by the UK Government to provide independent and impartial advice on the suitability of a funded decommissioning programme submitted by the prospective operators of a new nuclear power station, in relation to the Sizewell C nuclear power project in the UK.
    • International Bidders in relation to ECA backed financing and power purchase agreement negotiations for the fourth round of Solar and Onshore Wind projects procured by the Renewable Energy Project Development Office in Saudi Arabia.
    • Standard Chartered, UniCredit and Emirates Development Bank on the Noor 2 Steet Lighting project sponsored by Engie and EDF Renewables to install 133,473 energy-efficient LED streetlights across the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
    • A major logistics group on USD and GBP financing and hedge arrangements for its USD 265 million leveraged acquisition of a US ecommerce platform.
    • The international sponsors in relation to project financing arrangements for a waste to energy plant with a capacity of 900,000 tonnes per year in Abu Dhabi.
    • The lenders on a multi-currency secured facility to Capec Green Energy group.
    • The project company in relation to the EUR9.5 billion project financing of an offshore pipeline project.
    • The lender on a USD 100 million secured financing to Gett (previously known as GetTaxi) to expand its business in the markets of UK, Europe, New York and Israel.
    • A consortium of Banque Saudi Fransi and Alinma Bank in relation to the award winning USD 185 million equivalent refinancing and capex facility for the expansion of petrochemical plants operated by Methanol Chemicals Company, a TADAWAL listed entity in Saudi Arabia.
    • The lender on the restructuring of a USD 200 million secured facility for a London listed mining company.
    • The project company on the refinancing for a waste to energy plant with a capacity of 300,000 tonnes per year in the UAE.
    • A consortium of international lenders, local banks and ECAs in relation to various project financing arrangements on the Yanbu 4 Independent Water Project in Saudi Arabia.
    • The lender on a USD 360 million facility to an international sponsor secured against cashflows from a portfolio of project financed investments.
    • A major mining company in connection with a bullion sale, purchase and prepayment agreement entered into with an international bank in relation to gold, silver, platinum and palladium.
    • An international contractor in relation to financing arrangements for its role as project manager and FEED contractor for a port and logistic terminal for a petrochemical plant.
