Michael Tardif is a leading project finance lawyer in the Asia Pacific region. He facilitates the financing of impactful energy and infrastructure projects across South and Southeast Asia, advising sponsors, lenders and development banks.

Michael’s practice services a broad range of industry sectors, including conventional power, renewable energy (solar, wind, geothermal, hydroelectric), infrastructure, oil & gas and mining across Asia, Australia and the US. His project finance experience covers the complete toolkit of complex transactions from corporate and acquisition financing, structured/leveraged finance transactions and derivatives, including hedging arrangements.

Michael has notable experience in transactions involving multilateral lenders and export-credit agencies which are often crucial supporters of project financings in developing countries in the region.

    • Represented Mubadala Investment Company PJSC on the project financing of floating solar IPP.
    • Represented PT Empat Mitra Indika Cahaya on the financing for a portfolio of captive solar assets.
    • Represented Sumitomo Corporation on the project financing of several utility scale hydro projects.
    • Represented China Development Bank  on the project financing of an IPP project.
    • Represented Corbin Capital Partners, L.P. on the private equity financing of upstream oil and gas assets.
    • Represented a leading financial services company on the IPO of Pertamina Hulu Energi (the upstream arm of an Asian state energy company).

    • Represented Plastic Energy Ltd. on the project financing of a waste recycling plant.

    • Represented PT Medco Power Indonesia on numerous projects including development of a regasification unit for a smelter project.
    • Represented PT Vena Energy Indonesia on numerous bids and advisory mandates of renewables IPP projects in Indonesia.

    • Represented Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited on multiple financing for PT Protelindo, an Indonesian tower and telecommunications company.
    • Represented MUFG Bank Ltd, Jakarta Branch (one of Indonesia's largest foreign bank branch operations) on the corporate financing of STP, an Indonesian telecommunications company.
    • Represented Oversea-Chinese Banking Corporation Limited on multiple financing for PT Protelindo, an Indonesian tower and telecommunications company.
    • Represented Pertamina International Shipping Pte. Ltd. on numerous ship financings and advisory work.
