Tom Zick is an associate who focuses on helping companies navigate emerging AI and privacy regulations.

Before joining Orrick, she graduated cum laude from Harvard Law School and earned her PhD in Astrophysics from UC Berkeley. Previously, Tom was an AI Project Fellow at Harvard's Berkman Klein Center, where she worked with leading frontier model labs to build research collaborations and partnerships with the Harvard academic community.

Her policy consulting includes advising on the NIST Risk Management Framework, AI procurement practices for city governments, and helping inform AI agendas for congressional leaders. Tom has practical experience in red teaming advanced Generative AI models and co-creating industry benchmarks for Large Language Model alignment.

She has worked for the City of Boston on operationalizing their data governance framework and has advised early-stage founders on responsible technology development.

Her scholarly work includes award-winning papers on privacy and AI governance, and she has presented her insights at events like the IAPP Leadership Summit, NeurIPS, and New York Academy of Sciences and AI Now Workshops.
