Andres focuses his practice on financing and project development in the renewable energy sector.

He regularly represents project developers and investors in energy project finance transactions, including tax equity and debt financing, M&A, joint ventures, project development and a broad range of corporate matters. His prior experience includes international and multijurisdictional financing and development of energy projects in Mexico and across Africa, including Equatorial Guinea, South Africa, Nigeria, and Egypt.

    • Counsel to clients on a range of domestic renewable energy transactions, including the drafting and negotiation of EPC agreements, supply agreements, asset and construction management agreements and others.
    • Represented a US bank in the tax equity financing of a residential solar portfolio in multiple states in the US, including drafting and negotiating investment documents and the performance of due diligence.
    • Represented a US bank in the tax equity financing purchase of a utility-scale wind farm in New York, including the drafting and negotiating of investment documents, drafting of ancillary documents for closing and various funding phases and the performance of due diligence.
    • Represented a US Bank in the tax equity financing of battery energy storage projects in California and Texas, including the drafting and negotiating of investment documents, drafting of ancillary documents for closing and various funding phases and the performance of due diligence. 
    • Represented several clients in the sale or purchase of tax credits.
    • Represented a national oil company in West Africa in the negotiation of the project documents for an FLNG project, including a production sharing contract, a joint operating agreement and an agreement covering the midstream portion of the project.
    • Represented an energy company in the acquisition of several gas-power projects in South Africa.
    • Advised an integrated energy company in connection with its participation in and development of an offshore oil mining license in Nigeria.
    • Represented several bidders in the awarding of licenses or production sharing contracts by the National Hydrocarbons Commission in Mexico.
    • Advised in the development of production sharing contracts awarded by the National Hydrocarbons Commission in Mexico.
    • Represented a buyer in acquisition and financing of the main portfolio of power generation plants and one gas pipeline in Mexico, including the performance of the due diligence of the target companies.
