April advises clients on UK-based and international mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and other corporate transactions in the energy and infrastructure sector.

April’s experience includes advising on acquisitions and disposals of solar farms and wind projects as well as on joint venture arrangements and other commercial contracts across a range of renewable and conventional energy companies.

    • Advised Ørsted on matters ancillary to the disposal of its remaining 25% interest in the London Array offshore wind farm to funds managed by Schroders Greencoat.
    • Advised Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) on its partnership with Bute Energy (Bute). As part of the transaction, CIP’s flagship fund Copenhagen Infrastructure IV K/S will invest in Bute’s portfolio of onshore wind farms and solar PV projects, some with co-located battery energy storage systems, under development in Wales, UK. The Bute portfolio consists of projects at various stages of development and is expected to have a total installed capacity of over 2GW by 2030.
    • Advised Energia Group on the establishment of its joint venture with Eni (Plenitude) and HitecVision's Vårgrønn to develop offshore wind projects in Ireland, with the potential to deliver up to 1.8 GW of new capacity by 2030.
    • Advised Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) on its partnership with Amberside Energy for the development of 2 GW + of solar PV, battery storage and solar PV with co-located battery storage projects in the UK. As part of the partnership, CIP will provide a development loan to Amberside to enable the development of the solar PV, battery storage and solar PV with co-located battery storage projects.
    • Advised a UK based project developer on investing in offshore floating wind solutions in Europe.
    • Advised an asset manager on their preparation for the sale of two waste to power projects in the UK.
    • Advised a German solar company on its acquisition and disposal of various solar farms in the UK.
    • Advised a UK investment company on its acquisition of a portfolio of solar farms in the UK.
    • Advised a UK development company on its disposal of various solar farms in the UK.
    • Advised a European oil and gas company on its auction bid for a participating interest in a natural gas asset in the Middle East.
    • Advised an Africa based oil and gas client in relation to its bid for a group of companies owning oil and gas assets in West Africa.
    • Advised a major oil and gas company on various commercial arrangements in relation to assets in the North Sea.
    • Advised an oil major on the renegotiation of a Production Sharing Contract, Joint Operating Agreement and ancillary agreements in the Republic of Azerbaijan.
    • Advised an oil major on the sale of its Norwegian subsidiary and the creation of a new joint venture in Norway.
    • Advised an African state-owned oil and gas enterprise on a petroleum receivables-based financing
    • Advised a NASDAQ listed software company on the acquisition of three subsidiaries in the UK over the course of three years.
    • Advised a NASDAQ listed data storage and management company on the acquisition of a UK subsidiary.
    • Advised a Japanese client on its proposed investment in a UK based company developing a high-altitude platform and communication system.
    • Advised Cowa on the acquisition by an affiliate of H.I.G. Capital of a controlling stake in Cowa’s subsidiary, PolarDC Group Ltd. Polar develops, owns, and operates data centre infrastructure targeting high-performance computing applications. The Company’s first data centre in Norway will provide up to 48MW of capacity once fully operational, and will be powered using 100% renewable, hydro-electric power.
    • Acted as UK counsel on the acquisition of two information security businesses.
