Welcome to the Orrick Public Policy Podcast, hosted by Jeremy Kudon, Public Policy Practice Group Leader, and with participation from other practice group members.
There are dozens of podcasts that focus on the President, Congress, and everything else that happens "inside the Beltway." This podcast, like our group, focuses on the places where things really happen - where, unlike Congress, ideas don't go to die, but are instead introduced, debated, and passed into law. Those places are the state legislatures, and while they might not be getting the same level of attention as the President, Dr. Fauci, or a handful of Governors, they are playing a major role in the response to national movements that play out in our own backyards: the COVID-19 recovery and vaccination distribution, addressing social, race and gender equity issues, and responding to their respective state's economic needs in the road to recovery.
Join us and thought leaders from around the country as we demystify the state legislatures and give our listeners a better understanding of the role they play, the issues that they are dealing with, and the people that lead them.
