The American Lawyer has named Orrick as Intellectual Property Litigation Department of the Year for 2015. In addition, the firm is one of six finalists for Litigation Department of the Year.
In selecting Orrick as IP Department of the Year, the American Lawyer dubbed our team the “rescue squad.” American Lawyer reported, “time and again, they heard stories [from the firm’s clients], lauding Orrick's ability to jump into a case and successfully dig its clients out of a hole, even with little time to prepare. What's more, the firm successfully demonstrated this across an impressive range of venues, using novel strategies, cementing its position as this year's IP winner.”
Other IP finalists included WilmerHale, Cooley and Fish & Richardson. Orrick was named a finalist for IP Litigation Department of the Year in 2013.
Orrick has also been named one of six finalists for Litigation Department of the Year, alongside Boies Schiller, Kirkland & Ellis, Paul Weiss and Quinn Emanuel, with Gibson Dunn as the winner. American Lawyer highlighted our litigation department for being “in the spotlight” and noted that “High-intensity headline cases didn’t faze Orrick’s litigators.” American Lawyer also reported that, “If we gave a prize for top employment department, Orrick would be favored.”
American Lawyer also ranked Orrick #10 in its 2016 Litigation Power Ranking which recognizes past and current Litigation Department of the Year winners and finalists based on their repeat showings.
In addition to this recognition, Law360 has also named Orrick’s IP team as one of its Practice Groups of the Year, an award the firm has won for the third consecutive year, and as an Employment Practice Group of the Year. Our IP team was additionally singled out as an IP All-Star for being one of four firms most often recognized in the past five years.
