  • Renewables tax equity and tax credit specialist Mark Christy joins Orrick’s leading renewables and energy transition team.
  • Mark brings deep experience providing tax advice in connection with solar, wind, and battery storage projects. Formerly a partner with Winston & Strawn, he joins Orrick’s Chicago office.
  • Mark’s arrival follows the hiring of tax authority John Eliason last fall in Washington, D.C. Earlier this year, the firm added Alejandra Garcia Earley, a rising star in tax equity project finance, also in Chicago.
  • Mark is the 20th partner to join Orrick’s global E&I platform since the start of 2022. The firm’s practice is ranked Band 1 nationwide in both Energy Transition and Renewables (Chambers USA) and No. 2 in Energy Transition and No. 1 for PPAs by volume globally for 2023 (Inspiratia).

“We are at a clear inflection point in the tax equity and now booming tax credit purchase markets, as federal policy is paving the way for broad market participation in energy transition. Demand is extraordinary across the energy ecosystem, as well as tax-burdened companies in all sectors looking to take advantage of now being entitled to purchase federal income tax credits, and we are delighted to add Mark’s talent to our team,” John said.

“Orrick is advising a wide range of market participants in the most innovative transactions across the renewable energy and energy transition market. The quality and diversity of the practice is extraordinary and I’m excited to be part of helping this team and our clients take advantage of the tremendous market momentum,” Mark said.
