In this article in Global Arbitration Review, Orrick of counsel Ali Al-Khasawneh and partners Rena Scott and James Hargrove analyze the likelihood of increasing demand for dispute resolution arising from significant growth in renewable energy projects in the Middle East.
Ali, Rena and James, members of our international arbitration practice, observe that the opportunities for energy transition across the Middle East (particularly Qatar, Jordan, Kuwait, Israel, Saudi Arabia and Egypt) “are coupled with, at times, volatile governmental regimes and unstable regulatory frameworks, which can increase the risks of undertaking such projects.”
As a result, they note that renewable energy projects may be “susceptible to arbitration risks.”
