As a member of Orrick’s Complex Litigation & Dispute Resolution team, Kristina has extensive experience representing clients in challenging and high-stakes cases. She has a particular focus on trade secret misappropriation cases in the tech industry, where she has both prosecuted and defended claims.
Kristina’s commercial litigation experience includes litigating claims of false advertising, unfair competition, business fraud, negligence, breaches of contract and fiduciary duties. She also has substantial experience with the False Claims Act, both with and without the government’s involvement.
In addition to her litigation experience, Kristina has conducted numerous internal investigations and compliance assessments in the United States and abroad. She has also represented companies and individuals in matters before the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).
A first-generation immigrant from Russia to the United States, Kristina is passionate about her pro bono work. She played a leading role in the firm’s collaboration with Public International Law & Policy Group on the Ukraine Accountability Initiative and represented clients in reproductive rights and termination of parental rights cases.

Alison represents individuals and corporations in a broad range of white collar criminal defense, anti-corruption, regulatory, and trade matters across the globe with a focus on the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and other anti-corruption laws and regulations. Alison's practice involves conducting internal investigations, representing clients in matters before the U.S. Department of Justice, U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission, and U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Controls, and enhancing corporate compliance programs. Alison has extensive experience responding to subpoenas and information requests from government entities and has trial and litigation experience in multiple federal district courts. She has also helped clients navigate shareholder books and records inspection demands and shareholder derivative lawsuits. Alison has represented companies around the world in the oil and gas, medical technology, digital entertainment, pharmaceutical, education, blockchain, technology, and financial industries.
Alison's practice also includes online safety issues, including advising companies on compliance with online safety-related obligations and best practices in the US and conducting online safety compliance risk assessments, especially as it relates to user safety on internet dating platforms. Alison's experience includes representing clients in connection with criminal and civil investigations conducted by state attorneys general related to state online safety legislation.
Alison remains committed to serving her community through pro bono representation and has experience in reproductive rights cases and policies, immigration and asylum matters, death penalty cases, policing and racial justice cases and policies, and a range of other constitutional issues. Alison has represented clients on civil and criminal matters in federal court, including a domestic violence survivor in a Hague Convention proceeding. Most recently, Alison helped achieve a meaningful settlement on behalf of the family of a man killed by police officers in Greenville, Mississippi after convincing the district court to deny qualified immunity for the officers involved.
Prior to joining Orrick, Alison graduated from Case Western Reserve University School of Law. In addition, while pursuing her undergraduate degree from Centre College, Alison worked on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., specifically in the Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions committee. In 2016, Alison co-founded the non-profit, CTE Hope, an organization dedicated to addressing the issues and research of traumatic brain injures and chronic traumatic encephalopathy.

She frequently assists Federal Housing Administration (FHA) mortgagees with their program approval efforts, annual recertifications, compliance with and understanding of program rules and self-reporting obligations, audits by the Quality Assurance Division (QAD), inquiries from the Office of Inspector General (OIG) and enforcement actions by the Mortgagee Review Board (MRB). Melissa performs similar work related to the Ginnie Mae, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Section 184, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA Department) and U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Housing Service loan programs. Her work also includes assisting clients with False Claims Act (FCA)-based risk assessments arising from participation in government lending programs. She represents both mortgage and reverse mortgage/Home Equity Conversion Mortgage (HECM) lenders and servicers.
In addition, Melissa’s practice focuses on the mandatory purchase of flood insurance requirements under the Flood Disaster Protection Act, which includes regularly advising lenders and servicers on the ins and outs of the federal banking agencies’, FHA’s and the government sponsored enterprises’ (GSE) flood insurance-related regulations and guidance. She also assists clients with satisfying Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) and other regulators’ expectations for providing assistance to consumers impacted by presidentially declared disasters.
Melissa frequently counsels clients in matters arising under the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), Truth in Lending Act (TILA), Consumer Financial Protection Act (CFPA), Mortgage Acts and Practices Rule (MAP), the Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act (SAFE) and related state licensing laws, state regulation of real estate brokers and property managers, and a range of other federal and state consumer financial laws impacting lending and servicing.
Melissa has been recognized by The Legal 500 in the Financial Services: Litigation practice area. She is a former Co-Chair (2014-2017) and Co-Vice Chair (2011-2014) of the Housing Finance Subcommittee of the American Bar Association’s Consumer Financial Services Committee. She also is an active member of the Mortgage Bankers Association and National Reverse Mortgage Lenders Association.

Molly has extensive experience in all phases of litigation. She has shepherded witnesses and defendants through all stages of state and federal investigations, government enforcement actions, and civil and criminal trials. She has served a pivotal role in multiple federal jury trials, including arguing motions and formulating effective direct and cross examination strategies. She has defended high-profile clients in the technology and finance sectors in securities class actions, and represents clients in shareholder derivative suits and other shareholder-related disputes.
Molly regularly represents companies and their officers and directors in connection with investigations by the SEC, DOJ, FINRA and other state and federal agencies. She has defended clients in SEC and DOJ enforcement actions. Molly's litigation experience also includes defending against allegations of securities fraud, the False Claims Act, and mail and wire fraud.
Molly's pro bono experience focuses on the assisted reproductive technology space, where she has become a go-to strategic advisor. In addition to representing individuals at all stages of the ART lifecycle, Molly regularly counsels organizations affected by assisted reproductive technology and third-party reproduction. Molly has appeared on The Doctors and in the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, and New York Magazine commenting on regulation and litigation in the gamete donation industry. Most recently, Molly secured a favorable ruling from the FDA on behalf of her clients.
Prior to joining Orrick, Molly was a Litigation and Enforcement associate in the San Francisco and Washington, D.C., offices of another international law firm. Prior to attending law school, Molly was a pianist and conductor on the national tour of Wicked and worked in the Massachusetts Legislature.

David represents clients in matters involving the False Claims Act, the Anti-Kickback Statute, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), federal securities laws, and the Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, among others. He routinely leads internal investigations relating to a range of ethics, fraud and corruption issues, including bribery, corruption, accounting fraud, revenue recognition, embezzlement and other alleged misconduct. His litigation experience includes oral argument before the First Circuit and state appellate courts, leading briefing in federal and state trial and appellate courts, and deposing senior government officials.
David has extensive compliance experience. He served as Global Investigations & Compliance Counsel at a leading medical device company, and served as Counsel with the Legal Compliance & Investigations team at one of the world's largest technology companies (both client secondments). He played a key role in multiple DOJ- and SEC-appointed corporate compliance monitorships, as both counsel to the Monitor and helping clients successfully navigate monitorships. He routinely works with clients to develop and enhance their compliance programs.
David previously worked as an Assistant Attorney General in the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office, serving as lead counsel in more than a dozen criminal and civil matters at all levels of federal and state court.
David is the hiring partner for the Washington, D.C. office and partner in charge of Orrick's D.C. summer program. He serves as firm-wide staffing partner for his practice group and is a member of the practice's professional development committee. He is deeply committed to associate development and mentoring.

In private practice, Joe represents companies and executives in FCPA internal investigations, enforcement actions, compliance and defense matters before the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), the US Department of Justice (DOJ), the UK’s Serious Fraud Office and similar authorities. While at DOJ, Joe was a member of several task forces, including the Securities Fraud Task Force and DOJ’s Task Force into corruption allegations relating to the award of the Winter Olympics to Salt Lake City. Joe also acted as lead prosecutor on several high-profile matters, such as the first-ever joint FCPA enforcement action between the SEC and the DOJ against KPMG and Baker Hughes (which is now the template for FCPA enforcement); an insider trading matter against the former CFO of a waste removal company; and a tax fraud prosecution involving an executive of the U.S. Olympic Committee.
Joe provided counsel in high-profile matters, including leading the internal investigation for HealthSouth (relating to the first criminal indictment under the Sarbanes-Oxley Act); representing an executive for Credit Suisse under indictment for allegations related to tax evasion by U.S. citizens; working on notable FCPA investigations and representing financial institutions in enforcement matters with the Consumer Finance Protection Bureau and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. Joe was appointed by the DOJ and the SEC to be the FCPA Compliance Monitor of Weatherford International Ltd., a large multinational corporation in the oil and gas industry, to monitor its FCPA Compliance Program in connection with a deferred prosecution agreement and settlement with those agencies. Joe has acted as Counsel to the monitor for FCA US LLC in the first-ever appointment of a monitorship by the Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Joe also represents boards of directors, audit committees, officers, senior management and employees of global corporations in enforcement and criminal matters around the world and he frequently conducts internal investigations and due diligence for global clients. Such matters have included allegations of, FCPA violations, healthcare fraud, qui tam and False Claims Act actions, insider trading and similar matters. John is an accomplished and seasoned trial lawyer who has represented public and private clients in more than 100 jury trials, and appeared in state and federal proceedings throughout the Pacific Northwest, as well as California, Florida, Montana, New York, and Wyoming.

In 2004, John chaired the Magistrate Selection Committee for the Federal District Court in the Western District of Washington. He has also served on several Merit Selection panels identifying candidates for appointment to the federal bench in the Western District of Washington. He is currently co-chair of the Federal Appointments Committee for the Federal Bar Association and has served as a Ninth Circuit Representative. He was once appointed to serve as a Special Master in a matter pending before the Federal District Court in the Western District of Washington to investigate issues related to a multi-party joint defense agreement.
