Emma has experience in drafting and negotiating employment contracts, consultancy agreements and settlement agreements, as well as staff handbooks and policies. She has extensive experiences in conducting and resolving employment litigation in both the Employment Tribunal, the Employment Appeal Tribunal and the High Court. In addition, she frequently advises a mix of high-growth startups and leading global corporations on high-value corporate transactions. She also advises on compliance issues such as the employment aspects of data protection matters and the drafting of Modern Slavery Act statements.

    • Handled a variety of employment tribunal claims relating to unfair dismissal, discrimination and/or whistleblowing for a range of respondent clients including high-value race discrimination and whistleblowing claims for a German fintech client, alongside concurrent High Court proceedings to protect the client’s confidential information.
    • Advised a US-based developer of mobile fantasy sports games on a founder employment dispute following its acquisition of a UK-based business.
    • Preparation and attendance at a judicial mediation for a social media company in relation to a discrimination and unfair dismissal complaint.
    • Led settlement negotiations for a listed media company on the exit of a senior board member.
    • Advised a number of leading technology companies on conduct of various grievance investigations and processes in relation to allegations of discrimination.
    • Advised Canada-based Shopify on its acquihire via asset purchase agreement of certain employees of Patchstack (t/a Eporta) including the employment considerations relating to TUPE.
    • Advised a US-based developer of an enterprise management cloud platform on the employment considerations in relation to the UK workforce following the acquisition of the entire issued share capital of various companies specialising in HR software and platforms.
    • Advised a technology software company on post-comnpletion integration following various acquisitions including the application of TUPE and on changing terms and conditions of employment.
    • Advised on the employment law aspects of Sonantic’s acquisition by Spotify and on the acquisition of Cuckoo by Giganet.
    • Assisted Pancreta Bank S.A. with the purchase of HSBC’s branch operations in Greece including liaising with local counsel and advising on the application of TUPE.
    • Assist large international clients with collective redundancy and restructuring exercises.
    • Advised an organisation in the technology sector on a significant change to its benefits offering, including collective consultation and the changing of terms and conditions by way of dismissal and re-engagement.
    • Assisted an American investment bank and other financial services clients with the regulatory impact of employee misconduct and the interplay between disciplinary action and any regulatory sanctions.
    • Advised an organisation in the education sector on a merger of two departments and the harmonisation of terms and conditions, as well as consultation in relation to the restructure of the business model and offers of suitable alternative employment.
    • Named as a key adviser and co-counsel to lead Corporate counsel on the employment aspects of Wyndham Worldwide Corporation's sale of its European Rentals business to Platinum Equity.
    • Assisted an online publishing company with a series of complex disposals of certain publishing brands to separate buyers, including the implication of TUPE on its shared services personnel.
    • Advised a number of clients on the employment aspects of acquisitions of businesses out of insolvency or via pre-pack administrations.
