Lewis Hower

I help founders and funds advance innovation around the world – I’ve done a deal on every continent except Antarctica! I’ve spent my entire career as a builder, business advisor and investor in the innovation economy. I’m not a lawyer, but rather work with Orrick’s legal teams to help our clients grow their businesses through connections, relationships and other resources. Before I joined Orrick, I led a global team in support of world-class founders and investors at Silicon Valley Bank. I’ve also been a founder and worked at several VC firms.

What inspires you about working with tech companies?

I believe in the power of relationships to solve problems and the democratization of access and agency. Both drive the innovation economy. Partnering with founders and investors to not only create, but help deliver change on a global scale, inspires me every day.
Where do you find inspiration in life?

The people around me. We operate in a whirlwind of an ecosystem that changes daily, but there is always a human element to the work we do. The power of relationships is what it is all about.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

Never stop being curious and ask the real questions. Control what you can and acknowledge what you cannot, but do not let it control you.
What’s your mantra?

I’d have to pick two, but they go hand in hand. Do less, better. And have more fun!
